Local Chapter event attendance and networking – Joseph Lam had received a separation package from Wells Fargo Bank and met executives from Bank of the West at a UFSC local chapter event. He was hired within two months as a Bank of the West Vice President in Technology Development with a conditional tracking plan to move to Senior Vice President within one year. The Moral: Attending UFSC events gets you past the internet job website portals and allows you to meet with real decision makers.
Urban Financial Services Coalition Chapter President, Jasper Smith – Prudential Financial Advisor has been invited to be a speaker at the upcoming Annual convention of the 29,000 member National Society of Black Engineers. The moral: Working as a successful volunteer UFSC Chapter President is helpful to one’s personal brand as well. UFSC Annual National Summit attendance and networking: Stacy Raymond, received a separation package from United Airlines Chicago. She met executives from the Chicago Public School District, Business Education module who presented at the UFSC 2014 Chicago Annual National Summit. Her followup conversations led to being hired as Business Development Officer for the Chicago Public Schools District – the third largest school district in the United States. The moral: She met the decision makers at the UFSC Summit.
UFSC Annual National Summit attendance and networking – Sandra Patterson, on staff with a major financial institution, attended the UFSC 2014 National Summit in Chicago, Ill. She met executives from BMO Harris Bank at the UFSC event and two months later was hired as a BMO Harris Bank Vice President. The moral: Networking at UFSC events is productive.
