Angelia Ward, MBA, MBCP, is the Business Continuity Management Administrator and Assistant Vice President at Commerce Bank where she has worked since 2015 and quickly advanced through the management ranks. Angelia’s career in the Business Continuity Management (BCM) arena began during her career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 2004-2009. During her tenure at the Reserve Bank, Angelia served as the Greater Kansas City Chapter’s website manager, administrative assistant to the Chapter President and leader of several chapter projects.
Angelia left the Reserve Bank in 2009 and began a 6-year career as the BCM Senior Specialist with the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP, Kansas City, MO. In 2015, she returned to her financial services roots at Commerce Bank and rejoined the Greater Kansas City Chapter. She quickly re-engaged with the organization by agreeing to develop and implement a Mentor Program aimed at leadership development and succession planning and serve as the Program Chair. She also represents the chapter at Junior Achievement financial literacy sessions hosted at local inner-city schools and serves as Board Advisor upon request.
Angelia earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration at the Baker College Center for Graduate Studies. She has obtained several BCM certifications including Associate Business Continuity Professional, Certified Functional Continuity Professional, Certified Business Continuity Professional, Master Business Continuity Professional and Certified Continuity Manager.
In addition to her role with the Greater Kansas City Chapter, Angelia is a former member of Toastmasters® where she served as a club president and vice president. She achieved designations as a Competent Communicator and Leader and an Advanced Leader Bronze.
Angelia, her husband Walter and their daughters Monique and Mia Rae reside in Grandview, MO. Their oldest daughter Nicole lives in Arlington, TX.
